 MABAS Division 32 Meeting

 

September 27, 2006

 

Meeting called to order by President Feher at 7:02pm

 

President Feher thanked Scott AFB for hosting the meeting.  Scott had a short presentation about the base.  The meeting was adjourned for a tour of the facilities at Scott AFB.

 

President Feher then introduced Detective Dave Wunder with the O’Fallon Police Department.  Detective Wunder talked about the 19th Guns & Hoses coming up that supports the Backstoppers organization.  Tickets for the event are available and boxers are wanted for the event. 

 

Charles Kofron was then introduced from St. Clair County Data Processing.  Mr. Kofron gave an update of the status of the mapping program that the county has been working on with the fire districts.  8 districts have yet to return the map information.  For those districts who do not return their maps, a fire chiefs committee will review the information and return them to the county.  French Village has done a test of locating all their hydrants with GPS.  A couple other departments have also indicated they wanted to locate their hydrant information.  Work on the hydrant information will continue. An overview was then given of the GeoBase system that Scott AFB is working on, and that the county is hoping to begin working with. 

 

OSFM – Greg Muskopf is the new investigator for St. Clair County.  He will become a K9 handler in the near future.  The OSFM has created a door hangar that will be available after calls which additional information may be in the neighborhood.  This gives the number for the Arson Hotline and has a place for a business card to be integrated.

Additional personnel are available for plan review. 

 

SWIC – Lee Smith advised the new building at the training center is under construction and should be available on January 1, 2007. 

 

IFSI – Duane Bales passed on the short classes are available thru the cornerstone program at Scott AFB.  These would be up to 8 hour classes.  A wildland firefighting class is now available thru IFSI. 

 

ESDA – A new Emergency Operations Center is in the works for St. Clair County and will be located at 101 South 1st Street.

 

CENCOM – the departments that are dispatched by CENCOM are re-aligning their radios and are installing PL tones.  Effective November 1, non-CENCOM departments will have to contact CENCOM on IFERN.  A letter with the changes was sent to all departments with the meeting minutes.  The next thing the committee will be working on is the CAD system.

 

Information received from ESDA indicates that REJIS will be instituting a regional ID Card System in the near future.  Additional information will be forwarded as soon as it is received. 

 

IFCA – The Volunteer Chief Officers Sector sent out a questionnaire recently and only 17 of the departments in our division responded to the inquiry.  The questionnaire will be resent locally for additional departments to fill out and forward to the IFCA.

 

The IFCA and the Illinois Fire Districts will have a joint conference starting next year.  It will be in Peoria. 

 

The fire service summit will be coming up in November.  Any ideas for the summit should be forwarded to Bob Buhs with the IFCA.

 

Contracts for ladder testing are being sent out.  Contact John McGuire at Swansea if your department needs aerial ladders tested. 

 

County wide all call pagers are programmed.  Additional information is being looked at for contacting those departments who are paged on other frequencies.

 

SCSESA – The building is being worked on and is being updated with siding, roofing, insulation, etc.  New doors are being looked at also.  Additional training is being looked at thru IFSI at the local level.  Some equipment cannot be located that the association had received and additional information will be looked at for trying to find the equipment

 

A nominating committee for a slate of officers for 2007 was appointed.  Casey Trentman, Dean Juenger, and      were appointed.

 

Melhville Missouri fire department has joined MABAS Division 32.   Eureka and Fenton fire departments are also looking at joining the division. 

 

Bob Welker will be retiring from Mascoutah FD on October 31st

 

Mascoutah will be looking at buying some foam.  Any departments interested in a group purchase, contact Dean Juenger

The MABAS Division 32 meeting was called to order 

 

Discussion was held concerning the dues for MABAS.  Information was forwarded to the member on the dues structure that was approved by MABAS in March.  Dues notices was received and requested to be paid by the end of September.  Discussion was held concerning Division 32 executive board waiving the 2006 dues.  Motion was made and seconded to waive the 2006 dues for all departments for MABAS.  Motion passed.

 

IMAT Team – IS300 and IS 400 classes were attended by Greg, Lee and Jerry.  Additional classes for the IMAT team will be in the next couple weeks.

 

The Mass Casualty Iincident Trailer has been received and will be stored at the SCSESA building.  EMS region will be writing protocols and callout procedures.

Next meeting will be joint meeting with the Fire Districts on December 7th.  Mascoutah will look at hosting the meeting.
